Just south of the Mujib dam, about 5km to the east, you will find the ruins of the Moabite city of Balua, most likely the biblical city of Ar.
This once important city, inhabited from around 2000BC, was home of King Balu'a. Now the ruins are the home of goats and sheep.
Balu'a is also the finding place of the Balu'a stele, indicating ties between Moab and Egypt.
